This homely Riga hotel, located just next to St. Peter's and St. John Churches, is named after the former Bergermeister of Riga, Nikola's Eke. This is the house where he installed a boarding house at the end of the 16th century for the widows of the city's craftsmen, who saw out their retirement here for more than 300 years.
The interior is influenced by the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The furniture is modeled on examples of historical furniture and the rooms are adorned by ancient maps, original drawings, engravings and hand-woven blankets. "Ekes Konvents" retains its impressive vaults, ancient facade and the authentic roughness of its walls.
