The hotel's buildings were built in the 16th and 19th centuries for the needs of a printing-house. The patron of these buildings is Johannes Gutenberg - the well-known patrician of Mainz and inventor of the polygraph in 1550. The bas-relief of Gutenberg adorns the facade of them.
While staying at Hotel Gutenberg, you can acquaint the history of Riga by enjoying the original paintings, engravings, old books, beautiful copies of Gutenberg bibles and the landscapes of Latvia and Riga from the 17th century. These ancient values are within a reach in the hotel's premises.

On the first floor of the hotel, the romantic restaurant Gutenbergs offers classic Latvian and Baltic-German dishes, a wide variety of world drinks and an excellent wine selection. The silent instrumental music played in the restaurant guarantees a pleasant and light atmosphere.
From May to September, Hotel Gutenbergs grants their guests with an open-air summer restaurant on the roof terrace. From here you can enjoy the wonderful view of Daugava and the towers of at least 14 churches of Riga. This is a great place to enjoy warm summer evenings with your beloved one or have a great party, a corporate celebration or a presentation.
Hotel Gutenbergs provides also function and event facilities. Banquet hall Johan with a capacity of up to 100 persons is situated on the 4th floor and has a terrace with the marvellous view of Dome Cathedral.
