Itinerary

Within this tour you will be introduced not only with Latvian cuisine, but local culture and traditions. We want to show you why Latvians are so proud of their pure and ecologically clean nature and the gifts they receive from it.

After meeting the chef of Hotel Avalon you will head to the Riga Central Market, which is the best opportunity to get off the beaten track and see part of the everyday lives of locals. While strolling around five covered pavilions and purchasing the selected products for culinary course, you will be welcomed to taste traditional Latvian food. For example, lampreys at fish pavilion or sauerkraut with caraway seeds, pickled cucumbers and pickled garlic with horseradish at vegetable pavilion. At dairy pavilion you will have an opportunity to taste cheese produced by local farmers. Meanwhile in grocery pavilion you will have a chance to taste and get a traditional souvenir from Riga with local honey. Delicious smoked chicken will wait for you at meat pavilion.

When the shopping is done, you will head back to Hotel Avalon to join the cooking course. It may take about 1, 5 hour to prepare the dishes, which should be chosen in advance. Mostly the menu consists of snacks or soup, main dish and a local beer.
